This hat I created to celebrate the second day felt called by FeltUnited for October 2, hopefully soon to be able to indicate the link where you can admire the many creations made of felt around the world.
This year the theme was the section of the color wheel from yellow to blue.
I am inspired by the song "Somewhere over the rainbow" (the Wizard of Oz to be understood) from which the name I gave the hat, is a song I love so much and every now and then I run the lines on the head especially the phrase that inspired this creation "..... somewhere over the rainbow blubirds fly, birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can not I ".
While you are there Smolle also the video with the version of Aretha Franklin is my favorite ever, I hope you'll like:)
To make the hat I made a form of luck with the bottom of a plastic Easter egg (I love when all the junk that accumulates in the end find a purpose!) and a plate of polystyrene cut a circle to make the brim.
On this form I modeled the felt.
The hummingbird is hand made with the technique of needle felt, flowers with the same technique used to make the hat, felt water.
Below I have sewn a comb so you can easily attach to the hair.
I decided also to do so participate in the exhibition-competition "thoughts felt" the fair in Vicenza Skillfully: fingers crossed!
What about ..... was all I wanted to do a little hat-hair because I like them too and I enjoyed it a lot, I think I'll taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanti others!
